Light symbolizes hope and the return of brighter days. Wreaths, music, and dancing all play a role in winter solstice traditions.\nThe act of giving is the sharing of spirit and goodwill. Wreaths symbolize the eternal cycle of nature. It’s a reminder of the balance between light and dark, life and death, and the seasons. The Winter solstice encourages introspection, the letting go of past burdens, and the anticipation of new beginnings.\nJoin us in celebrating the cycle of light and in creating a brighter future.\nEvent Includes:\n\nLive music and song, with Kyoko Kimura, Certified Healing Harpist, singer Elizabeth Padilla, and more\nWisdom Talk on the cycle of light with Sally Mahe, Senior Advisor United Religions Initiative\nInsightful Meditation\nPoetry and More\nRefreshments served\n\nSally Mahé, Senior Advisor and founding staff person of URI, has held senior staff positions for over 20 years. Sally formerly served as URI Director of Organizational Development and Director of Global Programs, working primarily with regional staff across the world. As Senior Advisor, Sally supports the Communications Team, is on-call for consultation, and makes core URI values, practices, and organizational wisdom available to the URI global community.\nSally co-authored The Birth of a Global Community in 2003 and A Greater Democracy Day by Day. Sally holds Master’s degrees from Harvard and the General Episcopal Seminary, New York.
