 Perseverance is more than pig-headedness. It’s the ability to keep your objective or goal in mind whilst taking or determining an action towards that goal. The key to perseverance isn’t in worrying about what’s gone wrong, not working, or not being done right. It is simply in knowing (not seeing) that this moment is just part of the journey towards the outcome or goal you’re working towards, it isn’t the final outcome. Perseverance invites us to honestly assess where we are right now in comparison to where we would like to be. Join us in pondering perseverance.

Journey inside moving life energy. Increase flexibility, relaxation, balance and concentration. Strengthen and enliven the body and spirit. Bring the inner smile out. Experience meditation in motion. Open to all levels. We warmup with Qigong and then transition to the Yang style long form Tai Chi set.

We will meet outside weather permitting, so please bring hat, sunglasses, windbreaker, etc.

Instructor, Fern Jeffcoat has taught Qigong and Tai Chi since 1993. She also practices and teaches Raja Yoga meditation. Fern combines movement, breathing and meditation to facilitate the integration of soul and body, which helps to ease into a state of health and wellness.

There is confidence in one’s abilities, such as, to solve equations or to build a bridge; and then there is confidence (faith and trust) in the self, in ‘who I am,’ in my essence, in my true potential and capacity for greatness- and then there is full trust in myself no matter what. It is up to each of us though to ‘unlock’ the door to our own self-confidence.

The four Keys:

Knowledge of ‘who I am’
Understanding of myself
Faith in my own untapped potential
Humility

In this workshop, we will:

  • Enjoy meditation
  • Explore through sharing & enquiry
  • Experiment with the four Keys
  • Learn some self-confidence tools

Facilitator: Kyoko Kimura, BA in Music Education and MA in flute performance. Kyoko is a resident of our San Francisco center and is a Raja Yoga practitioner and meditation teacher since 2000. She facilitates workshops and retreats on virtues, Positive Thinking, Stress Free Living, Inner Beauty, Inner Bliss and Self-Empowerment.  She also teaches values lessons through music at public schools in San Francisco, and facilitates summer camps for children and adolescents in the greater Bay Area.

Solid self-respect is built on deep self-knowledge of who I am, my qualities and values. When this foundation is strong, we are able to see the criticism coming, evaluate its merit objectively and discard it or use it to see where we are going wrong. When there is patience, peace and love automatically work. When we are content, we value our lives as well as the lives of others. I stay happy with others and others’ stay happy with me. Sometimes we want to do good things, only we find that we don’t have the courage… Sometimes when we see our weaknesses there is hopelessness. Sometimes our heart has been hurt and not healed. Newton’s third law of motion of reciprocal actions says: For every force there is an equal, but opposite, force. The Law of Karma says: Whatever I give out is what will come back to me. We say, ‘Don’t get mad!’ to each other, and yet when we do become ‘mad’, our hearts are inevitably hurt, and then later comes the regret. Every time we express anger it tightens its grip on us, as anything we do repeatedly gets hard-wired within us. However, this also gives us the answer as to how to re-wire.

We can re-wire by choosing to create a new pattern of behavior, the old habit then dissolves through lack of use. Come and learn more how to keep it cool.

Sometimes people cry, feel embarrassed, or get defensive in conversations. If the mind is angry or hurt, we must listen, understand its needs, answer it and heal it. Distracting the mind elsewhere aggravates our emotional wounds. We need to replace anger with assertion. Assertiveness means stability inside and focuses on the act, not on the person who made a mistake.  

 

Facilitator: Vaishali Jogi, MComm in management, professional account manager. Spirituality and the joy of sharing goodness have always been Vaishali’s passion. In her teenage years, she used to gather slum area kids and teach them the essentials of good living. Since pursuing a career as an MBA (finance) for the last twenty years, she has been offering meditation sessions, self-development workshops, yogic cooking and meditative dance movement classes to people of various faiths and professions at multiple locations in India and USA including City College of San Francisco where she serves as a principal accountant. Her life’s inspiration is “Always wear the perfume of love and peace and the world gets served wherever you are.”

We want to introduce meditation as a practical and easy tool to tune out the chatter and check-in with yourself for more awareness, presence, and peace. Meditation helps to reduce stress, and develops a sense of inner peace, joy, and strength. 

Main Facilitator: Harsha Palli, B.Tech, has an M.S in Computer Engineering, is an IT Architect, and has practiced Raja yoga meditation since 2005. He resides at our San Francisco center and facilitates classes and retreats at Anubhuti. Harsha specializes in creating a very calm and clear environment for others to experience deep meditation and insights.
